Future Educator's of America's Ethical Dilemma, Mark was having a hard time making friends until he was asked to be in a group on Facebook. He was thrilled and accepted immediately. As time went by he became close with these people. One of his friends posted a photo about Christa that was very vulgar, the students were trashing the new student. Mark didn't know what to do about it, whether he should drop out of the group, talk to his parents or teachers, or say something to the members? If he did any of this, he'd go from being liked and accepted to being a snitch.
We all face ethical dilemma's in our daily life, especially in a classroom environment but how will you respond to it? I would respond to it in steps depending on how bad the situation is.
- Tell his parents, so if the issue gets out of hand they will know about it and can step in.
- Emailing the person telling him that that was not okay to talk about someone like that.
- If he was disrespectful about it, leave the group.
- If he starts making fun of him also, he should get his parents involved.
There are numerous ways to respond to an ethical dilemma, you should make sure you respond to it appropriately and in a quick manner before it gets out of hand.
In my opinion, a field trip is only educational if the students and teachers make it. Teachers need to make an assignment/activity for the students to do before, while, or after the field trip. It needs to be relevant, and the students need to gain something from it.
